Why Aren’t My AirPods 3 Noise Cancelling as Expected?

I received AirPods 3 as a gift and I've used them about 3-4 times. Unfortunately, the noise cancellation feature just doesn't seem to work for me. I can still hear babies crying, people talking nearby, and even other people's music and snoring. I've turned on noise cancellation, turned off adaptive audio, and the seal test shows a good fit. Diagnostics are fine too. I'm hesitant to turn up the music too loud because I know that's not good for my ears. So, what's the point of claiming to have the "world's best in-ear Active Noise Cancellation"? Can anyone give me some advice? Thanks!

Make sure you've done the "Acoustic Seal Test" in the settings—maybe the fit isn't quite right for you. Also, remember that noise cancellation is meant for blocking out low, continuous sounds. It won’t completely eliminate sudden high-pitched noise like crying or talking. For that, you might need actual noise-isolating solutions like earplugs.

I appreciate the tip! The seal test said everything is fine and I tried different tips too. But if noise cancellation isn't gonna work on those sounds, how can I enjoy my own audio without all the background noise?

I experienced similar issues with my AirPods 3 too. I thought they were defective, but I guess that’s just how they work!

Have you tried checking the difference in noise cancellation modes? Sometimes people don’t notice much change with them switched on and off, but it's worth experimenting with the settings!

There is definitely a tiny difference, but it's not very significant. In my previous AirPods 1, I didn’t even have an option to turn off noise cancellation.

First off, are you sure those AirPods are authentic? Sometimes people unknowingly get counterfeit products. Just a thought!

It was a gift, but the person who gave it to me is pretty confident about it. I even checked their source, and it was from a reputable tech seller. Plus, the Apple diagnostics didn’t flag them as knock-offs.
