I recently built my first PC with a Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB of RAM, and an ASUS Prime B450M Gaming motherboard, all secondhand. I got a new case (T Dagger TGC-G28B) that has 2 USB 2.0 ports and 1 USB 3.0 port on the front. However, I've been struggling with the front panel USBs. They seem to connect and disconnect repeatedly when I plug in a USB drive—it's like they flicker on for just a moment and then drop out. Interestingly, my headphones work fine when plugged in. I've double-checked that everything is connected properly, but I'm stumped on why these USB ports won't cooperate.

It can be tricky to pinpoint the issue without testing with different front panel ports. Sometimes it's hard to tell if the problem lies with the motherboard or the case itself. You might want to try using USB 2.0 connectors from an old case you have lying around since those cables are pretty standard. That could help narrow it down to see if it’s a case wiring issue.
So, should I just switch out the existing cables with the ones from my old cases?
