Why aren’t my SD cards showing the correct storage after deleting files?

I've been having a problem with two of my SD cards, one of which is brand new and the other is older. I use them for photography, so they fill up pretty quickly. The trouble starts when I try to use them after deleting all the photos. I can download the images without any issues, but when I check the cards afterward, they still show less available storage than expected. For example, my 128GB SanDisk card used to store around 4000 photos, but now it says it's full after only 700. Does anyone know what might be happening?

Have you checked if there's anything in the trash or recycle bin? Sometimes deleted files can still be recoverable. Also, formatting the card can help clear any residual data and reset the storage capacity. It's pretty easy to do on both computers and cameras, definitely worth a try!

I'm using RAW files now, but I haven't tried formatting yet. I'm still pretty new to this, but I’ll give formatting a shot.
