Why Aren’t My Windows 11 Devices Upgrading to 24H2?

I've been dealing with an upgrade from Windows 11 version 23H2 to 24H2. Most devices transitioned smoothly, but I'm stuck with a few machines that just won't budge. My RMM tool shows they're fully patched, and there are no pending updates. Patch history doesn't even mention 24H2. I've checked that there's plenty of disk space and that they meet all hardware requirements. Additionally, I'm not working with WSUS or GPO deferrals. Strangely, identical hardware in the same setup upgraded just fine. Has anyone else faced this issue? I'm using Atera RMM for reference.

We’ve had similar experiences. The quickest fix we found was using the Windows 11 Update Assistant to manually force the update on those stubborn devices. It’s worked for us, so I’d suggest trying it out.

Check the Windows Update registry settings at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftWindowsWindowsUpdate. Sometimes old GPO settings can mess things up. Clearing this folder can help reset everything back to default. Worth a try!

A few of our HP machines had issues with their system reserved partition size not being large enough for the upgrade. There are CMD commands to fix this in a Microsoft thread. We also faced some trouble where SentinelOne was blocking upgrades from Windows 10 to Windows 11, which might be something to look into too.

I encountered this on a few machines too. What helped was setting a Group Policy Object (GPO) to target feature version 24H4. After a reboot, the upgrade showed up. You might want to give that a shot!
