Why Can I Install Windows 11 on Incompatible Machines?

So, I've noticed something strange with some machines that should be incompatible with Windows 11. While checking hardware specs for a batch of leftover systems still running Windows 10, I found a few identical units already running Windows 11. It seems one of our techs may have mixed up machines while staging.

Curiously, when we pulled another machine from the same batch, it had no issues installing Windows 11—it updated and ran smoothly. Is this a common occurrence, or is something weird going on here?

I plan to phase out these machines eventually, prioritizing the remaining Windows 10 systems for replacement. But I'm worried about the risks. Microsoft could drop an update that won't play nice with unsupported hardware, but what else should I be cautious about?

It’s actually not surprising. When installing using Rufus, the tool can prompt you to skip the minimum spec checks. I’ve tried it on several machines from different generations, all the way to 7th gen, and they installed Windows 11 without any issues.
