I've got a 2015 iMac running Mountain Lion 10.8, and it seems to be struggling with internet connectivity. The only sites that load properly are Google, YouTube, and a couple of other basic websites. Occasionally, one will load partially, but then I can't click any links without it going to a blank page. I've tried a bunch of fixes: switching my DNS to Google's (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4), rebooting the modem and my computer, reinstalling the OS, restoring the 'hosts' file, renewing DNS leases, and checking for proxies and firewalls. Nothing seems to improve the situation! Browsing in Chrome is a bit better, but it still stalls after showing the main page. My Wi-Fi works fine on other devices, so this is just affecting my iMac. Any help would be appreciated!

I had a similar issue with my old MacBook. I fixed it by switching the OS to Linux Mint. Apple doesn't update security for older versions of macOS, so it can really mess up your browsing experience and app store access.
You might need to install a security certificate for some sites to function properly. I can't remember the exact name, but it was a company with a bunch of acronyms and numbers. Maybe try searching for it?
Do you recall how you found that certificate? Any tips would help!
That sounds interesting! But how would I install Linux Mint if my internet isn't working on the Mac?
