Why Can’t I Access My Past Chats or Memory Feature Anymore?

I've been using ChatGPT for a while and have paid for my subscription since its launch. I remember being able to use a memory feature to refer back to our conversations, but now I can't seem to access it at all. I've tried toggling the memory setting on and off in my account settings, but it feels like this feature has been taken away from normal subscribers. I'm not sure if I've done something wrong, or if it's a bug on their end. Can anyone help me figure this out?

It sounds like you're running into a specific bug that affects your account's ability to access memory. I recommend trying to start a new chat and ask ChatGPT about your memories or to create a new one. If it gives you generic responses or states that memories aren't enabled, it’s likely the bug you're experiencing. Definitely reach out to OpenAI support to report this—it sounds like they might not have many reports about it yet, so every bit helps!

I can relate! I had a similar issue where my memory feature wasn't working either. It turned out that my account was flagged as a free user even though I am a Plus subscriber. I had to ask ChatGPT what my current plan was, and when it said I was a free user, I showed it proof of my subscription. It realigned things, and just like that, my memory function started working again! Maybe give that a try to see if it works for you.

Wow, that's a unique fix! I'll definitely keep that in mind. Thanks for sharing!
