I'm having trouble with adjusting the volume of my microphone on Windows 11. The options to change the volume are greyed out and I can't make any adjustments. Is this normal, and is it something that could be fixed by upgrading or paying for activation? I can't share an image, but I'm really stuck here!

I know it can be super frustrating! If you had to pay for a Windows key, it's likely that you might be missing other features as well. I'd recommend checking if all your hardware drivers are up-to-date, especially for the microphone.
It sounds like your microphone might not be detected, which could explain why those options are locked. Make sure your microphone is connected properly and recognized in your device settings. If you have multiple devices, sometimes the wrong one might be selected. You can check that in the Device Manager.
Under normal circumstances, you should definitely be able to customize the microphone's volume settings. Have you checked if any software is affecting the OS controls? Sometimes third-party applications can interfere. Also, are you sure your microphone is showing up in Device Manager?
