Why Can’t I Create Two Partitions on My 4TB External Drive?

I've got a 4TB external hard drive that I'm trying to partition, but I'm running into issues. When I use Disk Genius, I can easily format the drive into a single 4TB partition without any problems. However, if I attempt to split it into two separate 2TB partitions, the second partition ends up as a 'MS basic data partition' and I can't open it. I've tried formatting it to exFAT, but it still shows up as 'MS basic data partition' after formatting, and that process doesn't return any errors. When I attempt to format it as NTFS, I get an error (00000000) related to an unknown issue. Disk Genius also reports that the GUID backup partition table is damaged, and when I try to fix it, the same error reappears whenever I unplug and replug the drive. I've even tried using different tools, but they continue to show the same issues with the second partition.

Have you tried using Diskpart? It's a built-in Windows tool that can help you manage disk partitions more effectively. Sometimes, it can resolve issues that third-party software can't.

I had a similar problem, and when I used Diskpart, I got a specific error message about the data area being too small. It's worth a shot!
