I've recently gotten a 500Hz panel and paired it with a 7800x3d CPU and a 5070TI graphics card, along with 32GB of CL32 DDR5 RAM. Despite cranking down the resolution and graphics settings to their lowest in Overwatch, I find that I'm not hitting close to 500 FPS. While I can max out at 600 FPS in the practice range, in actual games, I only see it hovering around the mid-300s. It's definitely a first-world problem, but I'm curious if anyone else with a similar setup is able to achieve frames closer to the refresh rate, especially in a game like Overwatch.

Getting 500 FPS is more of a dream in games like Overwatch. The engine doesn't quite scale to that level, even with powerful hardware. Aiming for 240 FPS is a much more realistic goal for competitive play with this game. Lots of CS players hit those numbers, but it's typically due to lower graphic settings and resolutions. Just keep that in mind!
Even with high-end gear, Overwatch caps around the 400 FPS mark most of the time. A 500Hz monitor is amazing, but realistically, it’s not always necessary for most games. Just enjoy having a great setup!
Yeah, I’d rather have a consistent 300 FPS than chase after 500 and end up disappointed!
Consider optimizing your settings – tune your RAM, GPU settings, and check your BIOS for any performance tweaks. These can bring significant gains. Also, be aware that hitting stable 500 FPS is pretty rare in games outside of Valorant or CS. You might even want to think about getting a better CPU like the Ryzen 7 9800X3D for that extra edge!
Totally! My performance improved massively just from tweaking settings. Every bit counts.
Honestly, do you even need 500 FPS? It's tough to notice the difference between 300 and 500 FPS with the human eye, especially when you’re gaming. You might find that 300 FPS feels just as smooth for most competitive games. Focus on enjoying the game!
Exactly! Sometimes we get caught up in the numbers. As long as it's smooth, you're good!

It's true! I've seen many players pushing for insane FPS in CS, but games like Overwatch will never fully utilize that potential.
