I'm having a problem with my 128GB Sandisk micro SD card. I was in the process of copying some folders over when I ran into an error. After that, I tried to delete some folders, but it gave me another error message. I was able to delete the files inside one of those folders, and I tried copying them again, but that also resulted in an error! When I unplugged and plugged the card back in, all the files reappeared. I attempted to format the card using both gparted and my phone, but while it claimed to format successfully, all the files are still there. I also used fsck, which said there were no corrupted files, and I tried chkdsk and badblocks, but those didn't help either. I don't really care about the data on the card because I have a backup; I just want to know if the card is dead or if there's a way to fix it.

I’d agree, if you formatted it and still see files, that’s a sign of trouble. It's best to back up any data you want to keep and then consider getting a new card. Electronics can be finicky like that.
If it’s a micro SD card, then there's no physical switch, but it sounds like it might be a hardware issue. If you've formatted it and files are still showing, your SD card might be on its last legs. It goes into read-only mode when it fails, letting you rescue data but preventing any writing.
Yup, sounds like your SD card is toast. When flash memory goes bad, it often switches to read-only mode so you can at least get your files off before it completely dies. Time to look for a replacement!
First, double-check that the tiny gray switch on the side of the SD card isn't flipped to write-protect mode. It's easy to overlook!
