My friends have faced a frustrating issue where they can't connect to any game that uses Easy Anti-Cheat. This started about a week ago after they cleared their downloads folder, which had accumulated a lot of files over time. After deleting those files, they attempted to play a game called "Rematch" with me but received a login error message indicating Steam couldn't connect to game servers. We've tried a bunch of fixes: checking game file integrity, reinstalling both the game and Steam, and even a full Windows reinstall—but nothing seems to work. Some other Easy Anti-Cheat games like "Elden Ring: Nightreign," Fortnite, and Fall Guys also failed to connect, while games like CS2 worked fine. We've contemplated whether it might be related to the network or something with Easy Anti-Cheat itself since the setup file won't open. We're running out of ideas here!

It's possible your friend might have been banned, even if it's a false report. But usually, Easy Anti-Cheat notifies players if that's the case when they try to start a game. Just something to keep in mind!
The Steam login error is actually a problem with Steam rather than EAC. It definitely sounds like a network issue, especially since you've tried reinstalling Windows completely. If it’s just EAC games that are having the problem, check your network setup, including your router—it might need resetting or updating some settings.
Yeah, it was kind of odd that only the EAC games wouldn’t connect. But after changing the DNS settings and resetting the router, the issue finally got fixed!
That could make sense, but they’ve always played honestly and have no notifications about any bans. It’s so weird!
