Why Can’t My PC Connect to 5GHz WiFi?

Hey everyone, I'm hoping to get some advice about my boyfriend's PC connectivity issues. He recently bought it from his brother, and we live in a sublet underneath our landlord's home, where the router is located upstairs. The landlord has a WiFi extender, but it's up there too, making it almost useless for us. There are two networks available: 2.4GHz and 5GHz. My boyfriend can connect to the 2.4GHz network, but it's incredibly laggy and takes ages to load pages. I play games on my console and don't have any issues connecting to either network. So, what can we do to improve our WiFi situation? I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to tech, so any help would be appreciated! Should we look into getting a WiFi extender for our downstairs space, or does he need a better WiFi card for his PC? Thanks in advance!

A good solution would be to buy a USB WiFi adapter that supports 5GHz. These adapters are relatively easy to set up and can help you get a stable connection.

You could also consider options like the TP-Link Archer TX20UH. It's a dual-band WiFi 6 card that should enhance your connection if it's compatible with his PC.
