I'm really thankful for Model 4, but what I think we really need at this point is cross-chat memory. It would be a lifesaver to be able to pick up where you left off in previous conversations. Right now, my job has strict security protocols which means I can't use Claude Code, and it's making things pretty tough for me. Interestingly, I found Model 3 to be sufficient for my coding tasks and wasn't necessarily looking for a big upgrade.

I get you! I thought I wanted memories too, but once I had them in my ChatGPT, I ended up turning it off. Sometimes, it can stray from what you're asking for. I'd rather bring up memories as I need them rather than have them hovering around.
Yeah, it's a bummer that you can't use Claude Code! But I've found that keeping project history documentation helps when transitioning sessions. It allows for smooth hand-offs, which can make up for the lack of memory.
I totally get where you're coming from! Having the ability to pick up chats where you left off would be super helpful, especially in a work setting with security constraints.
Have you considered setting up an MCP server to track conversation context? It can help manage conversations without hitting those annoying length limits since it appends messages to your chats automatically.
