Why did my laptop’s ping jump from 60 to 150 after a factory reset?

I recently noticed that my new laptop, which I bought last year, has a high ping after I did a factory reset. My old laptop works fine, so it seems to be something specific with this new one. I also bought an 8GB USB and reinstalled Windows, but I'm still experiencing the same 150 ms ping. I'm wondering if I should try another factory reset, take it to a repair shop, or even buy a new laptop. What do you think I should do?

It sounds like the driver for your Wi-Fi card might be the issue. Sometimes, the automatic updates don't pick it up correctly after a reset. You could try manually reinstalling the driver specifically for your Wi-Fi. A quick Google search for "reinstall Wi-Fi card drivers Windows 10" should help you find instructions.

It's kind of wild that you'd even consider buying a new laptop just because of some Wi-Fi adapter issues! Have you tried switching to a Linux live boot USB like Ubuntu? It could help you diagnose if it's a hardware issue or something else.

Factory resets sometimes lead to unexpected issues, but I'm curious why a reset would cause such a jump in ping. Are you using Wi-Fi or Ethernet? Knowing this can help narrow down potential fixes.

After a factory reset, it's really important to make sure that all your drivers are correctly installed and updated. Often, high ping issues come from outdated or incorrect drivers, especially for your Wi-Fi card. Double-check that everything is up to date.
