Why Did My Notepad Open with Old Files in Windows 11?

I just opened the Notepad app on my Windows 11 laptop and was surprised to see several text files that I know I wasn't working on last time I used it. These files are significant because they contain sensitive information like my passwords and backup codes for services. I've already run scans with Windows Defender and Malwarebytes, which came back clear, but I'm worried about what might be going on. Should I be concerned about this situation?

You're probably just overthinking it! Windows 11 has a feature that allows Notepad to reopen the files that were last active, even if you didn't close them intentionally. So if your system rebooted or you logged out without ending those sessions, it might have retained those files. But hey, for safety, I wouldn't recommend storing sensitive info in plain text files like that.

Totally agree! That's not the best spot for such important data.
