Why Did My PC Performance Drop Overnight?

Hey everyone, I've been dealing with a frustrating issue lately. My PC was performing well, but then it suddenly started struggling to run newer games. For example, I was getting about 50-60fps on medium settings at 2k for Oblivion, and now I'm barely hitting 30fps even on the lowest settings, especially in smaller areas. This performance drop has affected pretty much every recent title. I've made sure all my drivers are updated and even reseated my CPU and GPU. Over the last month, my PC has noticeably slowed down and takes longer to boot up. I've run several antivirus scans but nothing has come up. Has anyone else faced this kind of problem? I'm running out of ideas! My specs are i5 13700k, RTX 3060 12GB, 32GB DDR5 RAM, and a Prime Z690-P motherboard.

Just a thought, but check if your drive where Windows is installed has enough space. I noticed mine slowed down when my SSD got filled up. You might also want to check for any recent Windows updates that could have altered your settings.

I actually tried that first. My Windows SSD was pretty full, but I managed to free up about 40GB and it still didn’t help. Everything else is up to date, and searching online hasn't led me to any solutions either. Thanks anyway!

If none of the other suggestions work, you could try checking the RAM timings in the BIOS. Also, pop open Task Manager while you're gaming to see if any program is hogging your resources; it might be an application slowing things down.

None of the previous suggestions worked for me, and even while gaming, Task Manager never shows anything near 100%. It seems like my PC isn't outputting full power. I'll definitely check the RAM timings and see if that reveals anything.

You might want to try using DDU to completely uninstall your GPU drivers and then reinstall them. It can help restore performance. Also, don't forget to take advantage of DLSS and frame generation if your games support them!

I just went ahead and did that, but unfortunately, I didn’t see any difference. I've been using DLSS on everything too, and still no fix.
