I have a Windows 11 laptop that's not the best for gaming, but it's the most budget-friendly option I could find. When I tried to play The Sims 4 today, it prompted me for an update. However, I got an error saying I needed more space, so I canceled the update. Before this, I had around 13GB of storage left, but now I can only see 1GB available! Can anyone help me understand where my storage went after I cancelled the update? I'm not very tech-savvy, so I'd appreciate any guidance.

It's advisable to clean up your temp files! The update attempted to download but couldn't fully install due to your limited space. Running a disk cleanup and deleting everything except the latest restore point might help free up more space for you!
You probably lost that storage because the update reserved some space and may have downloaded incomplete files before failing to install. You could try downloading a tool like WinDirStat to see exactly what's taking up space on your disk.
Thanks for the tip! I'll give it a shot. I'm also wondering if I can remove those partial files from the update to recover some space?
