Hey everyone! I ran into an issue today when logging into my Windows system. I got an error message that sent me back to the login screen, but after that, I managed to log in. However, my desktop looked completely different – no background image and a bunch of icons were missing. Even my downloads folder was empty! The weird part is that when I check my personal folder on the hard drive, everything seems to be intact. Does anyone have an idea what might have caused this?

It sounds like you might be dealing with a temporary profile issue. When Windows creates a temp profile, it doesn't save any changes you make to your desktop or folders. You can fix this by doing a registry rename; there are plenty of guides out there that can help you with that. Hope this helps!
Just to add to what TechWizard99 said, this issue can happen if there are problems with the user profile loading correctly. Usually, it's a glitch with Windows. If you get back into your regular profile, everything should return to normal!
