How can I fix my BIOS update issue with the wrong flash drive?

I'm trying to update my motherboard's BIOS, but I'm having trouble with my flash drive. It's not showing up in the BIOS, and the wrong BIOS file is appearing. For some reason, it says I have a Winbond chip, but I actually have a Sandata one. How can I switch the files and get the update to work?

First off, make sure you download the correct BIOS file specifically for your motherboard model—it can’t just be any BIOS file. Once you have it, format the flash drive to FAT32, and make sure it’s the right size. Once formatted, unzip the BIOS file and place it directly onto the drive. Then, plug it into the BIOS-compatible USB port on your motherboard and follow the flashing instructions from the manufacturer. If the drive still doesn’t show up, try different USB ports or check if the drive itself is functioning properly.

That makes sense but what if it still doesn’t work? I keep getting a ‘couldn't read file’ error.

Check if your USB drive is properly formatted. Sometimes, just renaming it to 'Bios' isn't enough; the format can be a problem too. Use FAT32 format and ensure the BIOS file name is what your motherboard expects (sometimes you might need to rename the file itself). If all else fails, try a different USB drive—maybe it’s just not compatible for some reason!

I’ll give that a shot! Thanks for the tip.
