Why do I have high FPS but still experience game freezes?

I've recently built my gaming PC with an RX 7600 graphics card and a Ryzen 5 5500 CPU. Initially, I was able to play Overwatch at high settings with over 200 FPS consistently. However, I've started experiencing frequent drops where my GPU usage drops to 0% for about a second every 5 to 10 seconds, despite my FPS staying above 200. My CPU usage hardly exceeds 30%, so I'm not sure what to do about this problem. Any ideas?

It sounds like your CPU might be bottlenecking your performance. Even if the Ryzen 5 5500 doesn't seem to be maxing out, it's possible that it's struggling to keep up with game demands. Sometimes, even one thread being overloaded can create stutters. I suggest checking your CPU's performance more closely. You might want to look into monitoring tools to see if any cores are being taxed at specific moments.

Frequent FPS drops like what you're experiencing usually point towards a CPU bottleneck. The Ryzen 5 5500 is decent, but it can feel a bit underwhelming for gaming. I'd recommend doing a hardware analysis to see if it's related to that or something else in your system. Installing HWInfo64 can really help. Just run it in full mode, save a report, and analyze the output to see if there are any performance issues.
