Why do I have to reinstall Windows every time my PC shuts down?

I recently had a power outage while gaming on my Alienware Aurora R15, and ever since, I can't open certain apps like Xbox, the Microsoft Store, WhatsApp, and even Settings. Some other features, like the search bar, also stopped working. The only way I've found to fix this issue is by reinstalling Windows, but the problem keeps coming back every time the power goes out or if I shut down the PC improperly. What's going on, and is there a way to prevent this?

Make sure you're shutting down properly using the Power menu instead of just unplugging the PC. It helps avoid corrupt files from sudden shutdowns.

I always do, but I play modded games, and they sometimes freeze up, forcing a shutdown.

Have you tried reflashing your BIOS? I faced a similar problem with my Acer Nitro, and doing that helped resolve my issues.

That seems completely unrelated.

I’ll try it and give an update, thanks for the quick reply!

If you're running into issues like this, try running `sfc /scannow` in the command prompt. Usually, you shouldn't need to reinstall Windows this often.

You should definitely consider getting a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) to avoid these power issues in the future. It can help protect your PC during outages and give you a safe shutdown option.
