Why do my apps keep opening multiple processes and using so much memory?

I'm running into an issue where several apps on my computer are creating multiple instances, which is eating up my memory. I currently have 8GB of RAM (and I'm planning to upgrade soon, so please go easy on me!). Right now, my PC is using about 82% of my RAM just with Firefox, Steam, and Fortnite updating. I've tried ending the tasks for the duplicates that Firefox and Steam generate, but they just come back immediately. I'm not sure why this is happening or what I can do about it.

You're definitely not alone in this! Lots of apps, especially browsers, operate with multiple processes. It's pretty common these days. With only 8GB of RAM and multiple programs running, it’s understandable that your memory usage is high, especially with a game being updated in the background. Just keep in mind that more RAM will definitely help with performance once you upgrade!

Yeah, I'm working on it! Thanks for the clarification.

It looks like those aren't actually duplicates; many applications now run multiple processes to function properly. This helps manage different tasks more efficiently. For example, in Firefox, one process may handle the main UI, another for tabs, and so on. So when you see these extra processes, don't stress—they're just how modern applications are designed to work!
