Why do my emails delete differently on iPhone and Mac?

I've been having a frustrating issue where when I delete an email on my iPhone, it doesn't sync and delete on my Mac. However, if I delete the email on my Mac, it does delete on my iPhone. I've tried all the troubleshooting steps out there, including ensuring that iCloud is enabled on both devices and making sure both operating systems are up to date. I even reached out to Apple support, but unfortunately, they couldn't resolve the issue. Has anyone experienced this before and found a solution? Thanks in advance for your help!

Just a quick question, what does iCloud have to do with this issue? What email provider are you using?

iCloud is indeed the email provider and it's necessary for syncing between your devices.

It might depend on how many emails are in your inbox. If you have a ton—like nearing 10,000—you might see some lag in syncing between your devices. It can take a while for them to catch up. Just something to consider!

I only have 77 emails in my inbox, so I don’t think that’s the issue.

If Apple support is stumped, I’m not sure how much help you'll get here. 'I tried everything' isn’t very specific, so it’s hard to provide suggestions. I’d recommend calling Apple again and ask to escalate your issue to a senior advisor. They might be able to get you more help or escalate it to someone who can really dig into the problem.

You never know what you might learn here! I’ve actually gotten great help from Reddit when Apple support was useless.
