Why Do My Keyboard and Mouse Work in BIOS but Not in Windows?

I've been running into a frustrating issue where my keyboard and mouse function perfectly in BIOS and Windows Recovery Environment (WINRE), but they completely stop working when I boot into Windows. I've tried all sorts of command prompts and troubleshoot steps, but nothing seems to work. Is there a fix I'm overlooking? Am I going to need a USB drive to remedy this situation? Any help would be appreciated!

Using a USB drive might help. You can download a fresh version of Windows onto the USB from another computer and then use that to reinstall on your corrupted system. According to Microsoft, this could be a viable solution.

It sounds like the USB drivers may be malfunctioning in Windows but working fine elsewhere. If you can manage to get into Device Manager, uninstalling the USB devices might do the trick. But if accessing Device Manager is impossible, a full Windows reset could be your fastest way out of this mess. Just a heads up, resetting your PC can sometimes hit a snag, though.

Have you checked the Device Manager to see if the drivers for your keyboard and mouse are up to date or if they need to be removed? It could be a driver issue. However, if you can’t use your keyboard and mouse in Windows, then accessing Device Manager will be a bit tricky.
