Why Do My Monitors Look Different Even Though They’re the Same Size?

I have two monitors that are supposed to be the same size, but they're set to different resolutions: one is 2560x1440 and the other is 1920x1080. This discrepancy makes everything look larger on the second monitor. I tried setting both to 100% scaling, but it didn't help; the second monitor still displays everything bigger. I've looked into the display settings and aligning them doesn't seem to resolve the issue either. I want both monitors to have a similar physical display size so that when I move windows and my mouse between them, it feels consistent. Currently, I'm using Windows 11, which doesn't allow scaling below 100%, and I'd like to avoid lowering the resolution on my main monitor. What are my best options to achieve even display sizes?

You could try scaling your main monitor to 125% or even higher. This way, text and icons will appear larger without losing the full resolution quality. It won’t be a perfect match either, but it’s probably your best bet unless you want to drop the main monitor’s resolution down to 1080p, which doesn’t seem ideal.

I appreciate the suggestion! I'll give the scaling a shot.

The difference in resolutions is definitely the main reason behind this issue. The higher resolution monitor (2560x1440) means more pixels per inch, so everything will appear smaller compared to the lower resolution monitor. Unfortunately, as long as the resolutions differ, the sizes of the same content will also differ. You could either lower the resolution on the higher-res monitor to match the other or possibly upscale the lower-res monitor. But, honestly, the easiest fix might be just adjusting the scaling on the higher res monitor to something like 125%, even though it won’t be perfect; it can help make it feel more consistent.

Thanks for the advice! I was thinking about just upscaling, so that sounds like the way to go.
