Why Does ChatGPT Feel Less Effective Lately?

I've been using ChatGPT Plus, specifically version 4o, and I've noticed a significant decline in its performance. A few weeks ago, I could easily create study tables for bacteria, but now it keeps messing up! It puts info in the wrong columns, pulls arbitrary information instead of using what I've provided, creates extra rows that shouldn't be there, and occasionally repeats the same headings with random data. Most of the time, it takes me several messages to fix these errors, and it's driving me crazy. When can we expect ChatGPT to get back to its old efficient self?

Honestly, it’s almost like ChatGPT is trying to catch up with all of our human faults! Still, if you’re having persistent issues, maybe try running a system check or troubleshooting through the settings. Sometimes there are bugs that need to be fixed.

You're definitely not alone in feeling this way! Many users have noticed that ChatGPT isn't getting dumber, but it seems to be more restricted now. The developers have tightened safety filters and added formatting rules, which can really get in the way of its performance. It's frustrating because we all remember when it could handle things better and made fewer mistakes. Your concerns are valid, and the hope is that by voicing these issues, they'll remember to allow the AI to be more effective without all these restrictions!

Just follow a systematic approach! Break down what you need step by step—sometimes it helps mitigate the mistakes it makes. But I get it, it can still be really frustrating when the AI doesn’t perform as expected.

It would actually be amusing if they brought back the old version that was clever but a bit too groveling to users. I mean, at least it got things done! This version seems to just frustrate people more than help.

You're right! The old one was annoying, sure, but at least it actually produced what you needed. This one just drives me up the wall with its mistakes.
