I've installed 8GB of RAM (two 4GB sticks), but the system is only showing 4GB as available physical memory. I'm using a 64-bit operating system, and I've checked with CPU-Z, which indicates both sticks are recognized, so it seems like a hardware issue isn't the problem. What could be causing this, and how might I fix it?

One possibility is that the 4GB is marked as 'Hardware Reserved.' You can check that in your system properties. Also, make sure you've properly seated both RAM sticks, and try swapping their positions to see if that makes a difference.
What motherboard are you using? It could be limited on the maximum RAM it can handle. Just double-check both sticks are the right type for your motherboard (like DDR4). If everything checks out, maybe one of the sticks is faulty.
Just a quick check—in your system settings, is the operating system confirmed to be 64-bit? That would explain why it recognizes only 4GB. But if it's showing 8GB now, it seems like a temporary glitch.
Are you running a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows? If it's 32-bit, then it can't address more than 4GB of RAM. But you mentioned you're on 64-bit, so that shouldn't be an issue.
