Why Does My C Drive Keep Going to 0 Bytes Free?

Hey everyone, I'm having a problem with my C drive on my local disk. It suddenly shows 0 bytes free, and even when I delete files, it seems to only temporarily go up to about 10GB free before dropping down to zero again. It's happening pretty quickly, and I'm worried it might be a virus. I ran an antivirus scan, but it didn't detect any threats. I'm not very tech-savvy, so I'd appreciate any help! I have important stuff on my PC, so this is quite stressful for me.

You should consider using a tool like SpaceSniffer. It helps you visualize what’s taking up space on your drive. I had a similar issue where outdated updates kept stacking up instead of replacing the old ones, which filled my drive completely. Running SpaceSniffer should help you identify any large folders you can clear out.

What kind of PC do you have? Knowing the brand or model sometimes helps in providing more specific advice for managing your storage issues.

It sounds like there could be multiple reasons for your C drive filling up so quickly. Sometimes, Windows updates can consume a lot of space as they download new files. You might want to try freeing up some space by disabling hibernation using the command `powercfg -H off` in the command prompt (run as admin). You can also adjust your virtual memory settings to save some space. Let me know if that helps!

Have you tried using TreeSize? It’s another good tool to check which files or folders might be rapidly growing and eating up your space. It sounds like something is filling up your drive like a parasite, and these tools will help you figure out what it is.

As you’re freeing up space, keep in mind that Windows and other apps may have queued updates or temporary files waiting to be installed when they notice space becoming available. You might need to clear even more space than you think or consider upgrading your storage if the issue persists.
