Hey everyone, I've run into a bit of a conundrum with a PC I recently built for a friend who wanted to get into gaming. It was working fine initially, but during gaming sessions, it randomly drops to 10 FPS. These drops usually occur early in the session but can happen later too. I've gone over the basics like checking temperatures and stress tests, but I can't replicate the issue under testing conditions. The GPU is an older 3070 that I gave a thorough clean and repaste, improving temps, but the problem persists. The last time we played, I noticed a sudden spike in CPU usage in Task Manager right when the lag hit, even though the usage returned to normal afterward. The CPU and cooler are solid, so I'm scratching my head here. Any thoughts on what's causing these FPS drops? I plan to check the BIOS settings next, but I hope it's not a physical issue with the CPU itself. Any advice would be appreciated!

First off, what's your full build look like? Any parts overclocked or undervolted? It could help narrow things down. If you're running an i7-10700k, 16GB of Corsair RAM, and a 3070, there shouldn’t be any issues, but just asking!
Here’s the full build: i7-10700k CPU, 16GB Corsair Dominator RAM, MSI 3070 GPU, Noctua NH-D15 CPU Cooler, and a 1TB WD Black M.2 in a Fractal case with Arctic fans. None of it is overclocked or undervolted as far as I can tell.
