Why Does My iPhone Keep Saying My Password Is Incorrect?

I've been having this annoying issue with my iPhone 15 Pro Max where it constantly tells me my password is incorrect, even when I'm sure I'm entering it correctly. I've confirmed that I can log into iCloud on the web without any problems, so it's definitely my phone that's acting up. This issue started when I attempted to trade in my old iPhone (iPhone 13) about a year ago, and it completely locked me out during the process. Now that I have my new phone, I've been having problems with the volume buttons and needed to log in to turn off 'Find My iPhone' for a replacement, but again, the password didn't work, forcing me to reset it multiple times. I've kept a log of my passwords and know they're correct, but I've lost track of the combination now due to all these resets. I also heard about needing a 2FA code but haven't encountered anything like that—any advice on what I can do?

I feel your pain. I've had similar experiences where I had to reset my password multiple times due to outages. Just a tip: sometimes when you update your password, make sure to select ‘sign out of other devices’ to avoid conflicts. If this error keeps happening, it might be worth calling Apple support while you're having the issue since they can verify your account straight away.

Also, regarding the 2FA code, it usually applies if your device has older software that doesn't support it. If you get prompted for a code, make sure to input your password followed by that code on the second attempt (like password123456). For now, just focus on confirming the right password when you log in—you might also want to copy and paste it to avoid typos.

It sounds like you might be hit by a widespread outage affecting many users. Just yesterday, I couldn't log in either. Apple seems to have a problem that’s locking people out, and unfortunately, they don't always update their system status page right away. You might not be doing anything wrong! I suggest waiting it out or checking the status page to see if there's any ongoing issue with their servers.
