I've got an HP Victus 15 that's been shutting down randomly, particularly during gaming sessions. I've already ruled out overheating issues since I repasted the CPU and GPU, although I noticed that the thermal paste on some VRMs is kind of dry. I've tried using it with and without the battery, and while it lasts a bit longer on battery, it still shuts off. Sometimes even a slight movement makes it shut down, but that's not consistent. There are no visible cracks on the motherboard, everything seems connected, and the fans are clean. After formatting the laptop, it managed to run for a week without problems, but then it happened again. I haven't checked under the motherboard yet, and I noticed some screws are missing from the bottom case. I'm thinking about taking it to a tech repair, but I'd love to get more insights from you all.

What about the charger? It might not be providing enough power. Try running the laptop with just the official charger without the battery and see if that changes anything. But make sure it's the right charger for your model!
Did you really rule out overheating? Just because you repasted doesn't mean it's not a factor. Monitoring your temps with a program like Afterburner could give you some clarity. Also, check the event viewer when it crashes for more clues, especially for Kernel 41 errors.
You’re right that thermal paste isn't the only concern. If it runs longer on battery, it suggests it could still be a heat issue. The CPU hitting 96°C is pretty high; maybe monitor it while gaming to get concrete data.
Since you've done a lot with the hardware, maybe adjust the performance settings? Try reducing it and see if the shutdowns continue. If the CPU is regularly hitting those high temps, that could definitely be a problem.
