Why does my laptop lose WiFi connection every night around midnight?

I'm using a Lenovo laptop running Windows 11, and I've run into a strange issue where it can't connect to WiFi or my phone's hotspot starting around midnight. This has been happening for three nights in a row. The networks show up, and I try to connect, but I keep getting a message saying "unable to connect to this network." The laptop makes repeated attempts, but always fails. The connection is normally fine in the morning, so I'm wondering if there's a setting or feature interfering with the connection during the night. If it's necessary, I'm open to reinstalling drivers, but I'd like to explore other options first. I haven't made any changes to my router, as I suspect the problem lies with the laptop itself, particularly since I've also disabled my ProtonVPN, which sometimes affects connectivity, and I don't have the kill switch enabled.

This sounds like it could be related to a scheduled task or a setting with your VPN. Aside from checking the power-saving options, make sure to fully disable the VPN to see if that changes anything. Updating your WiFi drivers could also help, as sometimes outdated drivers can cause connection issues.

Is this laptop a personal device or is it set up for work? Sometimes work devices have configurations that control internet access during certain hours. Also, think about your living situation; do you share walls with neighbors? It might be worth considering if they have devices nearby that could be interfering, especially at night.

To rule out internet issues, you could run a ping test in the Command Prompt to see if it drops the connection at midnight. Just type "ping 8.8.8.8 -t" and watch for a "Request timed out" message when it loses connection. If it consistently fails at midnight, it might hint at a deeper issue beyond just your laptop settings.

Have you checked your power saving settings? It's possible there's a scheduled power-saving mode kicking in around midnight that's affecting your WiFi connection. Unchecking any power-saving modes might help. You might also want to look up "Automatic Maintenance" settings and see if they interfere with your internet access at that time.
