I upgraded my wife's older HP Pavilion laptop from a HDD to an SSD and did a clean installation of Windows 11. I've made sure to install the latest graphics drivers and have double-checked them. The weird thing is, the laptop's screen flickers only when it's awake after being in a long sleep, and rebooting is the only solution. Interestingly, when I connect the laptop to an external display, that screen doesn't flicker at all. I've tried turning off Hardware Acceleration, checked the drivers again, and disabled the screen refresh power option, but nothing seems to help. Anyone got any ideas?

Did you happen to mess with any cables while installing the SSD? Sometimes cables can get slightly disconnected or pinched, causing the screen flicker. Just another thing to check since you mentioned it only flickers after waking up. Maybe a loose connection could be the culprit!

I was super careful when I swapped the drives. I only unplugged the battery and switched hard drives, nothing else.
