Why Does My Monitor Feel Like It’s Only 60Hz?

I've got a GTX 4070S and my monitor's set to 240Hz, but it honestly feels more like 60Hz. When I run UserBenchmark, it shows 60 fps during the test, but jumps to over 400 fps when I hit escape. I usually get 240 fps+ in games, and there are rare moments when it feels genuinely smooth at 240Hz, but most of the time it doesn't. Any tips or ideas on how to fix this?

First off, maybe reconsider using UserBenchmark. Not the best for measuring performance. But, are you actually hitting 240 fps consistently in your games?

It could be related to how your frame times are behaving. If the pixel response time is slow, it might feel off. I found that disabling overdrive makes the motion blur worse. You mentioned your response time is set to Normal; have you tried switching to Fast or Superfast to see if that improves things?

You should check your Nvidia control panel settings. It's possible there's an override causing issues. Also, if your monitor supports G-Sync, make sure it's enabled. That could help smooth things out.

Don't forget to check your monitor's settings for a refresh rate counter. That might give you some insight into what's really happening.
