I've been dealing with a frustrating issue where my monitor just shuts down while I'm gaming, even though my PC stays on and the fans go into overdrive. I've looked into many discussions about this and tried a variety of fixes, but nothing seems to work for me.
Here are my specs:
- Intel i5 10th gen running at 2.9GHz, overclocked to 3.9GHz
- GTX 1650 (not overclocked)
- Two SSDs (500GB and 1TB)
- Argus 720W PSU
When I'm gaming, my CPU temperature stays between 45°C and 50°C with about 40% usage, and my GPU hits around 75°C with mostly 100% usage. The motherboard and SSD temperatures are stable and not above 20°C.
I've already tried cleaning my PC, reseating the RAM sticks, stress-testing everything, rolling back drivers and reinstalling them, a full system reboot, and even changing the PSU and monitor cables. I've also cleaned the CPU and GPU and replaced the thermal paste. I've monitored everything while playing, but temperatures and usages are normal with no sudden spikes. The shutdowns seem random; I might play for an hour or two without issue, but then it'll crash within 15 minutes.
I heard some folks fixed this by changing the GPU pin cable, but my GPU is a non-pin type. Others suggested a BIOS update, but that didn't help me either. I'm really at a loss here, and I could use any tips or insights someone might have!

Have you thought about disabling the CPU overclock? Sometimes overclocking can lead to instability, especially if the cooler isn't keeping temps in check. Also, does this happen in a specific game, or all of them? I've heard some experiences where it turned out the PSU was at fault—never really heard much about Argus though, so that might be worth checking out.
Did you manage to fix this? I had the same issue, and it turned out I didn’t reconnect my fans properly after cleaning my setup. My monitors went black, and the GPU fans were ridiculously loud. It felt like everything just hit the panic button! Maybe it’s something simple like that for you too?
Everything is connected correctly; the weird thing is that my PC runs totally fine and quiet until the monitor shuts down. It doesn’t seem to affect anything else, and I can still hear my friend on a Discord call when it happens.
I haven't tried that yet, actually. I left the overclock as it was done by the guy who built my rig. The crashes started occurring about 10 days ago. And yeah, this happens in any game I play—Counter-Strike 2, Hell Let Loose, Dead Island 2, and they’re all pretty demanding.
