Every time I power up my PC, a large message reading "American Mega Trends" appears, along with a note saying "This system has POSTed in safe mode." After that, I have to hit F1 to access the setup or BIOS, then discard changes just to reach the startup screen. It's quite frustrating! I can't post an image right now, but does anyone have ideas on how to fix this issue?

Totally on board with what everyone else said! I actually extended the wiring to make my battery more accessible so I wouldn't have to tear everything apart just to change it out. It can make things way easier if you have to swap batteries in the future.
Here’s a tip: I took the error message you mentioned and searched for it on Google (make sure to use quotes). It gave me a bunch of resources and possible fixes for the problem. Looks like there's an issue with your hardware or BIOS settings since the PC is booting with the default BIOS settings.
It sounds like your BIOS is resetting each time you turn off your PC. The most likely culprit is a dead motherboard battery. You might need to replace it with a new CMOS battery.
Yeah, I'd agree with that. Most systems use a 2032 coin cell battery. Check your motherboard specs for its exact location, since you might need to remove the graphics card or other components to access it. Just make sure your system is powered off and unplugged when you're replacing the battery!
