Why Does My PC Crash When Playing Demanding Games?

Hey everyone, I'm stuck with a frustrating issue on my PC. It runs smoothly for everyday tasks and less demanding games, but whenever I try to play more resource-intensive titles like Call of Duty, Rust, or Siege, my computer crashes immediately. There's no blue screen or warning—it just goes black and restarts. I've already tried a bunch of things: tweaking the voltages, reinstalling Windows, and changing out cables, yet nothing seems to help. All my drivers are also up to date. I would share my reliability monitor, but images aren't allowed here. Just for specs, I have an AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT, an AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D (8-core), 32GB of RAM, and an 850W Thermaltake Smart BM3 PSU with a B550 UD AC motherboard. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Also, what’s your memory setup? Are you crashing right after launching the games, or do you get to play for a bit before everything goes downhill? If you can load into the games but then crash, that might help narrow down the issue.

I have 2 sticks of 16GB Vengeance Pro RGB DDR4 3200MHz installed in slots 2 and 4. I can load the games for a while before it crashes.

You might want to consider getting two separate 8-pin cables if you're currently daisy chaining. That can often lead to power issues under load. Just check if your PSU supports that configuration; it could make a difference.

This sounds like it could be a failing power supply unit (PSU). Have you checked if you're using separate cables for your GPU instead of a daisy-chained setup? That's often a common issue. A mediocre PSU might not handle the load when gaming.

That's interesting! I actually got the PSU brand new back in December, but I see what you're saying about the cables.
