Why Does My PC Freeze for 30 Seconds When It’s Idle?

Hey everyone, I've been dealing with an annoying problem where my PC just freezes up for about 30 seconds when it's idle. During this time, everything stops—audio, video, mouse, keyboard—nothing works. After this weird freeze, it just resumes like nothing happened. It happens when I'm not really doing much; usually just a couple of browser tabs open and maybe a Twitch stream. Sometimes only the browsers crash, and they start working again if I click and drag a window.

It's strange because I can play games like COD and GTA5 without any issues, but these random freezes are really frustrating. I've tried reinstalling Windows a few times, I stress tested the memory with MemTest86, and disabled some memory settings, yet nothing seems to work. I've also messed around with GPU drivers using DDU. I suspect there's a faulty piece of hardware, but figuring out which one is tough since the whole PC becomes unresponsive. Any advice on where or how to start troubleshooting? Thanks!

Here are a few suggestions: First, install CrystalDiskInfo to check for any faulty disks. Also, explore the power saving settings in Windows as well as in the BIOS, particularly the C-states settings. Sometimes, disabling or uninstalling performance monitoring tools for CPU or GPU might help. It sounds counterintuitive, but those can sometimes cause issues.

Have you tried getting dump files for analysis? Those are crash logs from BSODs that can give insights into what's causing the issue. If you can access Windows normally or through Safe Mode, check `C:WindowsMinidump` for any dump files. If you find any, zip the folder and upload it to a file-sharing site like MediaFire or Catbox, and that could help you diagnose the problem better.
