Why does my PC keep booting into Windows after installing Kubuntu on a separate SSD?

I recently installed Kubuntu on my second SSD for dual booting with Windows, but my PC keeps defaulting to booting from the Windows SSD. I've set the BIOS to prioritize the Linux SSD, yet I'm not able to boot into Kubuntu. I can see that my SSD has the necessary partitions when I use my USB installer drive. Am I missing something? Do I need to remove the Windows SSD for this to work?

You might want to press either F10 or F11 during startup; that should let you choose between Windows and Kubuntu without going into the BIOS each time. Also, let me know if you figure out how to set a default operating system to boot!

Have you checked the Windows boot manager to see if Kubuntu is listed there? Sometimes you can manage boot priorities directly from there.

Many UEFI systems have a separate boot menu where you can manually select the boot entry. So, can you access the GRUB menu to pick Kubuntu? If not, it might indicate that the installation didn't complete successfully.

Regarding your default OS question, after selecting Kubuntu once, you should be able to set it as the default. You can often find these settings in the GRUB menu; it usually remembers your last selection!
