Why Does My PC Keep Freezing Randomly?

I've been having a frustrating issue with my PC lately. I've been using it for about two years, but starting in November 2025, it began freezing every few minutes, whether I'm doing nothing or playing games. I've already reinstalled Windows twice and tried scanning with SFC and DISM, but the problem persists. My PC also makes a loud 'tick' sound right before it freezes. Could this be a hardware issue, possibly with the SSD or RAM? I really need some help figuring this out!

Don't forget to make sure that your drivers are all up to date! I once dealt with random freezes, and it turned out to be outdated drivers causing conflicts. Sometimes rolling back to older versions helps too if the latest ones are acting up. Have you tried checking that?

I’ve already reinstalled all drivers from the latest down to some old ones, but it’s still freezing.

It sounds like your issue might be more complex than just a software glitch. Start by checking the Reliability Monitor on Windows to get insight into any critical events or errors that could be causing the freezes. You can search 'reliability' from the Start menu to get there. Also, downloading HWINFO64 can be really helpful to monitor your hardware temperatures. If you see any red numbers, that suggests overheating could be the culprit—this would definitely lead to freezes. Give that a shot and let us know what you find!

I did the things you mentioned, but I still can’t pinpoint the issue. Those temperatures were normal, so I’m at a loss.
