Why Does My PC Keep Restarting During Gaming?

I've been facing a frustrating issue where my PC restarts unexpectedly during gaming sessions. This used to be a rare problem, but today it happened five times! Interestingly, both my CPU and GPU temperatures stay below 60 °C while I play. I checked the Windows Event Viewer, and it shows a Kernel Power 41 error with BugCheckCode 0. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Just a quick update: it seems the issue stemmed from my power supply not being able to handle the load. After switching my power settings from Optimal Performance to Balanced, my PC stopped restarting on its own.

Definitely replace that PSU as soon as you can! It's not a good sign, and it could be failing. Better to be safe than sorry, especially if it's forcing you to throttle other components.

It sounds like you might be dealing with a power supply issue. Have you checked the condition of your PSU? If it's not supplying enough power, it could lead to those sudden restarts.

I think you might be right, thanks! I'll look into it.

There can be several reasons for those random restarts. Can you clarify what exactly happens? Does your PC just shut down and reboot, or do you see fans spinning at high speed and a black screen? Any blue screen error codes? Also, does this only happen when gaming?

The fans usually spin at a normal speed, but they ramp up if the CPU gets too hot. That hasn’t happened yet, so I guess the PSU can't handle the wattage. I’ll consider replacing it with a more powerful one.
