I came home from work to find that the power had gone out. When I tried to turn my PC back on, the fans just ran and a red light on the motherboard lit up. After turning it off and switching the power supply off and on, it booted up normally. Is this kind of behavior normal after a power outage? I've never had to do this before, so I'm concerned there might be some damage.

Are you using a good surge protector or UPS? It's essential to have decent protection for your PC during power cuts. Even a basic surge protector can help, but a UPS is better for ensuring a smooth shutdown and startup.
I have it plugged into a Tripp Lite surge protector, but I don't have a UPS. Should I consider getting one?
