Why Does My PC Restart After Just 3 Minutes?

My PC is being really frustrating! It keeps rebooting after I've only been in Windows for about 3 minutes. I've checked the BIOS and it doesn't restart there at all. It's not showing any BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) either. I don't have any spare parts to swap out for testing, but I did remove everything but one stick of RAM, the CPU, and the PSU, and I'm still facing the same issue. Is this likely a faulty motherboard, or could a dead motherboard battery be the culprit? I'm struggling to find much information on this.

It sounds like there could be an overheating issue. Have you checked the temperatures? Sometimes CPUs can heat up quickly and cause sudden shutdowns if they get too hot. Just a thought! Also, how's your ventilation?

I checked the CPU temperature, and it only peaks at 48 degrees Celsius, so I don’t think overheating is the issue.

If you bypassed most of your RAM and components to test with the basics, a faulty motherboard is a strong possibility. It could also be related to the motherboard battery or the PSU. Sometimes these problems can be tricky to track down without spare parts to test.

It might be worth checking if it's a power issue, too. Sudden restarts like this can happen if your power supply isn't providing enough juice or is faulty. Have you thought about using a tool that can diagnose potential hardware problems? It's a long shot, but it could help narrow it down.

I wish I could run any diagnostic tool. Unfortunately, my system doesn't stay powered on long enough to do that.
