Why Does My PC Restart or Crash After 10 Minutes of Gaming?

I've had my PC for four years, and just today I'm facing some frustrating issues where it randomly restarts or crashes after about 5 to 10 minutes of gameplay. I was playing Dota 2 when it suddenly crashed, and each time I rejoined, it crashed again after a few minutes. I tested it with CS2, and experienced the same issue. I've already done Windows updates and updated the NVIDIA drivers, but I'm still having trouble. This time it even restarted my computer. I suspect it might be overheating, especially since it's quite hot today, although I've managed fine on hotter days in the past. The only recent change is that I added four new fans in my case last summer. I also read that the power supply unit (PSU) might be an issue, but according to Partpicker, I need 420 watts and I have a 550-watt PSU. My setup includes 32GB of 3000MHz RAM, an RTX 3060 Ti, and an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X. I'm really confused as to why these problems are surfacing now without any changes. I'm not an expert on PCs, so any help would be appreciated!

Your PSU should be fine if it's 550 watts since that’s above the 420-watt requirement. But if it's old or failing, it could be causing the restarts. Run some diagnostics on it if you can. Also, try to stress test your RAM and GPU to see if something's failing under load. Just to rule those out!

Good point about the PSU! I had similar issues, and it turned out my PSU was not supplying consistent power. Testing it is a good call, especially under gaming loads.

First off, you might want to check the temperatures. Overheating could definitely be causing those crashes. If your GPU is hitting around 83°C, that’s pretty high. I’d suggest cleaning out any dust in your case and ensuring good airflow, especially with those new fans. Also, maybe consider reapplying thermal paste on your CPU if it hasn't been done in a while. How hot is your CPU getting? If it’s above 70°C, that could be a problem too. Just keep an eye on those temps!

Yeah, those temps are a bit concerning. I had a similar issue, and it turned out to be a faulty fan that wasn't providing enough cooling. Might be worth double-checking if all your fans are running properly!
