Why Does My PC Show a Black Screen After Installing Windows 11?

I recently built my own PC for the first time and created a bootable USB for Windows 11 using Rufus, after having issues with the official installer. The installation goes fine, but whenever I try to boot up, I just get a black screen with no mouse pointer or anything visible. The keyboard and mouse light up normally, so that's a sign something's off. When starting, the orange and red motherboard LEDs light up for about a minute, indicating DRAM and CPU activity, but they turn off and I see nothing on the screen afterward.

I've tried switching the output from DisplayPort to HDMI and back, disabling Secure Boot, and even reinstalling Windows 11 twice via USB. Here are my specs: CPU: Ryzen 7600x, GPU: 9070 XT Sapphire Pulse, Motherboard: MSI B650 Gaming plus WiFi, RAM: 32 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5 6000MHz, PSU: Corsair RM850x, and SSD: Crucial P3 Plus SSD 2TB. I can't troubleshoot until tomorrow after work, so any advice would really help!

I encountered a similar issue, and plugging in via HDMI instead of DisplayPort really did the trick. Sometimes it's a display compatibility thing. Glad you sorted it out!

Yeah, it could just be the refresh rate not syncing up initially or something with the drivers. Every setup can be quirky!

Have you tried using the Media Creation Tool instead of Rufus? Sometimes, using the official tool can resolve install issues that come up with third-party software. It might be worth a shot if you haven't done it yet!

I second this! Grab the Media Creation Tool from the Microsoft site. It directly creates a bootable USB for you, which is usually smoother.
