Why Does My PC Shut Down When Gaming?

Hey everyone! I'm facing a strange problem with my PC. Whenever I'm playing resource-heavy games like Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3, it just shuts down abruptly—like, straight to a black screen without any warning. There's no blue screen of death or anything. After it shuts down, sometimes it even has trouble booting back up until I've waited for a few minutes. My GPU temperature never exceeds 65°C, and my CPU stays below 80°C. Here are my specs: Ryzen 9 5900X, 3090FE, 32GB DDR4 at 3600MHz, and an EVGA 1000WG3 PSU running on an ASRock B550 Phantom Gaming-ITX/ax motherboard. All my devices are connected to a UPS, and the total consumption doesn't even hit 700 watts. I've done some digging, and my GPU is hooked up via two VGA cables to the 12VHPWR splitter that came with it, but I can't find a clear option for 'multi vs. single rail' on my PSU. Any suggestions would be super helpful!

You might want to consider replacing your PSU. It could be that it's tripping the over-current protection due to age or the power spikes from the 3090. I have a similar setup with a 14900K and a 3090Ti using an RM850x, and I haven’t had any issues at all.

I’ve heard a lot of complaints about EVGA PSUs being unreliable. That might be the core of your problem here.

Maybe it's time to test that PSU with a multimeter? Also, did you mention that your GPU is powered through VGA? I feel like I might be missing something here, that could be part of the issue.

Yeah, I can't post an image here, but the back of my PSU shows the connections clearly. Here's a link if it helps: [EVGA PSU Image](https://eu.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=220-G3-1000-X2#images-5). What do you think?

Running memtest86 could be a good shout. I had a lot of similar issues a few years back, and it turned out that faulty RAM was causing all the chaos. It felt like a hit-or-miss situation, but once I replaced the bad sticks, everything was smooth.
