Why Does My SSD Keep Disappearing While Gaming?

I've got two SSDs in my PC: an Intel SSDPEKNW010T8 1 TB for Windows and a T-FORCE TM8FPZ001T 1 TB that I mainly use for gaming. Lately, I've been having this frustrating issue where the T-FORCE SSD just crashes while I'm playing games like Wuthering Waves and Honkai Star Rail. When it happens, my game freezes and the SSD completely disappears from my system, so I can't access any of the games installed on it. The only fix is to restart my PC, at which point it reappears and works fine for a while until it crashes again, often the next night. I've checked its health with CrystalDisk and it shows 98%, so I don't think that's the issue. My friend suggested it might be a voltage problem, but I'm using a Corsair RM850X power supply. Anyone had a similar experience or has thoughts on what could be causing this?

Sounds like your SSD might be on the fritz. A similar thing happened to me with a relatively new NVMe SSD. It's also possible that overheating could be a factor if it's getting too hot during gaming. Windows corruption is another possibility, though less likely.

Here are some things to consider:
1. **Temperature**: If your M.2 SSD is getting hot and not having a heat sink, that could cause it to crash.
2. **Power Issues**: While M.2 SSDs don't use much power, check power usage since unstable graphics could also be a concern.
3. **Firmware Updates**: Ensure your SSD has the latest firmware from the manufacturer.
4. **Windows Updates**: There’s been reports of certain Windows updates causing M.2 SSDs to disappear until a reboot. It might not be visible in your installed updates, but double-checking could be worthwhile.

Thanks for these suggestions! I've been monitoring the temperature using CrystalDiskInfo, and it seems to hover around 55-60 degrees C while gaming. Is that typical? My other SSD works fine without issues, and I've checked for firmware updates, and I believe I'm all up-to-date.

That temperature is within a safe range but keep an eye on it. Unfortunately, if it’s a firmware issue, you might not find a fix easily, especially with lesser-known brands. If replacement is on the table, I’d recommend looking at Samsung or WD for better support.
