I've been dealing with a strange issue on my Windows 11 PC where holding the guide button on my Xbox Series X controller doesn't turn it off anymore. Instead, it opens the Task View screen. This wasn't a problem before. I've already checked the Game Bar settings in Windows, closed Steam, and rebooted my PC, but the issue persists. Interestingly, I tested this with my 8bitdo Ultimate 2 controller, and it behaves as expected by just turning off when I hold the guide button. I'm looking for any ideas or fixes to stop this from happening. Thanks in advance!

this behavior is intentional. it's part of the Xbox Full-Screen Experience update that's designed to make it easier to navigate Windows with a controller.
I’ve also been facing this problem. I noticed it began after a recent Windows update. It seems to happen only when the gamepad is off, and I press the button. Not when it’s on, weirdly.
I had the same issue, but it seems to have fixed itself. I tried to replicate the problem again but couldn't get it to happen. Could you check your Game Bar settings? Maybe there's something there affecting the controller's behavior.
In my settings, I've turned off "Allow your controller to open Game Bar" and also disabled "Use View + Menu as Guide button in apps". Initially, the View + Menu option was on when I first noticed it, but turning it off didn't seem to fix anything.
I started experiencing this recently, too. Usually, I use Steam input shortcuts to adjust the volume while gaming, but now it just opens the Task View instead, which is really disrupting my gameplay. I couldn't find any settings in Windows or Game Bar to disable this—does anyone have a workaround?
I replied to someone else about this. I really think it’s due to a Windows update. I use the same Steam input features, and I hope Microsoft fixes it soon.

Yeah, I agree! My second PC wasn’t having this issue until I updated it, and now it opens Task View just like the first one.
