Why Does Playing Genshin Impact Stop My Laptop from Crashing?

I'm really puzzled by my ASUS TUF Gaming A17 Laptop. It has a history of BSODs (Blue Screen of Death) when it's not plugged in for about 3-4 years, and it got worse after a recent Windows update. Now, it crashes even when plugged in. I've tried everything from updating drivers to running malware scans, but nothing seems to help.

Here are some of the BSOD error codes I've encountered:
- KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE
- UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP
- ATTEMPTED_EXECUTE_OF_NOEXECUTE_MEMORY
- UNEXPECTED_STORE_EXCEPTION
- DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE
- IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

After all that, I discovered a strange fix: when I run Genshin Impact, my laptop stops crashing! Other programs like Obsidian, Opera, or Minecraft don't have the same effect. I leave Genshin on the login screen to keep things running smoothly. Does anyone know why this happens or how I can fix the underlying issue?

You're not alone! I've seen similar issues with 4000H and Ryzen 3000 series CPUs. It could be a faulty core in your CPU, especially since the BSODs seem to occur while idle or under light load. A workaround that’s helped others is to limit the number of CPUs used by Windows via msconfig. You can try reducing your CPU cores from 16 to 12 and see if it stabilizes your system without needing Genshin Impact running.

It sounds like there might be something going on with your integrated graphics. Running Genshin Impact could be forcing your laptop to use the dedicated GPU, which might be why it stops crashing. Have you checked your GPU settings in the NVIDIA Control Panel or AMD Radeon Settings? Try switching to use the dedicated GPU as the default.

To really get to the bottom of these BSODs, you'll want to gather dump files from your crashes. They can provide crucial insights into the causes. If you can access C:WindowsMinidump for those files, zip them up and share them through a file hosting site. Ideally, a few dump files would be best for a thorough analysis.

I actually just uploaded my dump files! Here's the link: [Minidump.zip](https://www.mediafire.com/file/cm32mgrn29r4iwg/Minidump.zip/file) — let me know if that helps!
